This is avathara sthalam ( birth place) of Thondaradippodi Azhwar. Thondaradippodi Azhwar is Vanamaala amsam of Lord Vishnu. Thondaradipodi Azhwar has composed Thirumaalai - Hymns (45 pasurams) on Srirangam Sri RanganathaSwamy and Thirupalliezhutchi -Hymns(10 Pasurams) for awaking Lord Ranganathaswamy which are the part of Nalayira Divya Prabandham.

In this temple,  Lord Ranganathaswamy is in the standing posture (Nindra Thirukolam) along with Sridevi and Bhoodevi Thayars. This is one of the very few temples where Lord Ranganathaswamy gives dharshan in standing Posture. Sri Ranganathaswamy gave dharshan to Thondaradipodi Azhwar here in Nindra Thirukolam (standing posture) with Sridevi Thayar and Bhoodevi Thayar as Azhwar prayed to the Lord Sri Ranganathaswamy for this dharshan in Srirangam.

Sri Ranganayaki Thayar is in the separate Shrine. Devi Sri Ranganayaki Thayar is in sitting posture and is holding lotus which is bloomed in one hand and holding lily flower which is a bud in another hand which denoted present and future. This lotus and lily on the right and left hands of Thayar also resembles the sun and the moon in the right side and the left side of God.

Lord  Venkateswaraswamy ( VadaVenkadan ) and Thirumalezhumcholamalai Kalazhagar Perumal ( ThenVenkadan ) with Abhaya Hastham are present on the left and right side of Thondaradipodi Azhwar as they wished to listen and enjoy the Thirupalliezhutchi pasurams which was sung by Azhwar on Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy.                Sri Ranganathaswamy is the resting form of Lord Sri Vishnu. Lord RanganathaSwamy and His consort Sri Ranganayaki Thayar ( Mother Sri Lakshmi ) is worshipped as Chief deities in Sri Vaishnava community and well known Hindu deities in South India.

Lord Sri Ranganathaswamy is seen in a resting form (Sayana Thirukolam or Kidantha Thirukolam) on the serpent god Adisesha, along with Goddess Sri Devi and Bhoodevi Thayars as Lord Vishnu is reclining on Adisesha in ThiruParkadal ( The Ocean of Milk). In very few temples Lord RanganathaSwamy is also seen in Standing form (Nindra ThriuKolam) also, which is considered very rare.

Sri RanganathaSwamy is also known as Thiru Aranganathar who is worshipped along with Goddess Ranga Nachiyar (Goddes Sri Ranganayaki Thayar) as the main deity in SriRangam (Thiruvarangam) in Tiruchirappalli or Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Thiruvarangam or Srirangam is also referred as Koil by Sri Vaishnavites and is considered as the first of all the Vishnu temples and 108 Divya Desams (108 Holy Shrines of Lord Sri Vishnu where Azhwars have done mangalasasanam).

In Tretha yugam Lord Sri Rama has performed pooja to this Sri RanganathaSwamy idol which is later established in SriRangam. Eleven Azhwars and many Acharyas have sung the Grace of  Lord Sri RanganathaSwamy and Thayar in this temple.
