Temple History

The main deity in this temple is Lord Panduranga and Mother Rakumai made of Salagrama stone. Lord Panduranga is12 feet tall in a standing posture with a graceful smile along with Mother Rakumai standing next to Lord and blessing the devotees.

We can take dharshan and  blessings of Utchavar (festival deity) of Lord Sri Pandurangar and Mother Rakumai along with Utchavar Sri GovindaRajaSwamy with Sri Rukmini and Satyabhama Thayars as in Thirupathi. Utchavar Sri AchuthaRajar blesses the devotees with Sridevi and Bhoomadevi Thayars. Lord AchuthaRajar appears with Chathur Bhujam (four hands) and is holding Kamalam and Gatha (Lord's mace) in right upper and lower hands and Chakra (Lord's Disc) and Shank (Lord's Conch) in left upper and lower hands. Usually Lord will be holding Shank and Chakra on either side but here in this temple Lord is holding Shank and Chakra on the same side which is very rare. Utchavar Sri Pandurangar and Mother Rakumai graces the golden Car Utchavam every month on Utharatadhi Natchathra day.

The Temple main Gopura is resembling the design of Puri Jagannath Temple Gopura and is with a 120 feet tall tower and Gold Kalasa with Sudarsana Chakra above it and there is a saffron flag on the top of the tower which gracefully invites the devotees. There is also 16 pillared Maha Mandap in front of the main sanctum. Garudazhwar shrine is present in the mantap.

Lord Panduranga showers His blessing as a King of Mathura with Raja Alankaram on Sundays, Thirumanjanam (Abhishegam) to the Lord and Mother is done on every Thursdays. Lord and Thayar appears with silver coverings (Silver Kavacham) on Fridays and as Sri Padhmavathi and Lord Venkateshwara Alankaram on Saturdays.

Fruits Alankaram is done on the Tamil New Year day and Sri Vaishnava Muthangi Sevai is followed on the Gokhulashtami day also Rajagopalaswamy Alankaram , Giridhari holding the Govardhana Hill, Parthasarathy and Radhakrishna Alankarams are done to Lord and Mother on different festivals. It is said that Lord played his flute under the Thamala tree (the sacred tree of the temple) in Dwapara Yuga which drew Devi Radha towards Him and this Thamala tree is brought to South.

The structure of the temple resembles the Pandaripur Sri Panduranga Rakumai temple in Maharashtra. Inside the temple we can see wonderful fibre glass paintings describing the Story and Leela of Lord Krishna. The temple was built by Sri Haridasgiri Swamigal, the disciple of Sri Gnanananda Swamigal. Nama Sangeerthana also is followed as a part of worships in this temple.

Prarthana Sthalam

Devotees pray to Sri Pandurangar and Sri Rakumai Thayar for child boon and financial problems and also perform pujas and offer Vasthras to Lord and Mother.

Devotees also participate in Golden Car Utchavam which happens on every month Utharatadhi Nakshathram day.
